The Member representing Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West federal constituency at the Green Chamber of National Assembly, Hon Eugene Dibiagwu has distributed seedlings to deserving farmers across the federal constituency, so as to achieve food security in the face of agricultural production disruption of the recent times.
The lawmaker attracted the supply of farm seedlings from federal college of Agriculture Ishiagu ebonyi state in conjunction with Hypo Verie Integrated limited to the Constituents.
Speaking at the event , Mr Fred Benjamin who represented the Federal College of Agriculture Ishiagu ebonyi state , extolled the lawmaker the federal lawmaker for dogged commitment to improve the agricultural production of his Constituency. He expressed how the lawmaker doggedly hook on the institution neck for the approval of supplies of farm seedling. He charges the luck beneficiaries to use the opportunity to boost their agricultural business.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Governor on Rural electrification , Hon Nwabueze Ogushienti thanks the lawmaker for his achievements on the improving seedlings for farmers in the federal Constituency. He said these is barring one month of his inauguration, a huge milestone has been recorded within a short period of his Representation . " I know that the man we sent to Abuja is a man of integrity who prioritise the yearning of his Constituent over every other interests" he said .
In his address during the distribution, Dibiagwu stated that legislative leadership comprises the three cardinal roles of law making Representation and Oversight. Therefore the most fundamental to his Constituency in terms of derivable advantages in relation to the life of a lawmaker is Representation, through which the parliament attracts and facilitates fruitful opportunities in development and empowerment.
He further expressed concerns on the down-turn in food production and other agricultural activities in Constituency, despite its agrarian environment . He said that the negative situation, can be possibly traceable to the economic activities associated with the oil and gas business, which has adversely affected the topography, soil texture and other vital nutrients required for effective business and investment in agriculture.
"During our campaigns, technical and specialized groups were inaugurated to undertake studies on the various challenges bedeviling the economic development and advancements of our people and our environments . This event today ,is one of the obvious fullfilment of our several campaign promises".
The lawmaker enjoins the beneficiaries to effectively deploy the agriculture seedlings for the sole purpose of food production and other economic development associated with farming . He reiterated his commitment to ensure that his federal constituency overcomes with resoundingly ground breaking results and accomplishments.
Dr Gideon Nwaeze while making a close remarks, commended the lawmaker for bringing home the dividends of democracy. He assured the federal Constituency that Dibiagwu at the National Assembly is the tone of positively re-writing the narratives of Representation in our Constituency. He charges the participants of the empowerment programme to judiciously make use of the items received to reduced total dependence on food items from other parts of the country.
Among the seedlings distributed includes improved variety of Cassava stems and palm seedlings.
